ScrogginsI began teaching elementary music in District 197 in 1990. Before that I taught elementary music in Pine Island, Minnesota from 1987-1990.

I received an Arranging & Composition degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. My Music Education degree is from the University of Minnesota. I also have a Masters Degree in Curriculum & Education from Saint Mary's University.

I've always enjoyed teaching Mendota students the joy of experiencing and performing music. Rhythm, melody, harmony, tone color, form and style are taught in an integrated, comprehensive program. Experiencing a rich variety of historical styles deepens their understanding of the world.

During their 90 minutes of music classes each week, students read, perform, and compose with music symbols on a variety of musical instruments. Great composers, orchestral instruments, jazz and writing lyrics are also taught. Learning and performing vocal music concerts are always a highlight of each school year.
