Mendota Music Class PictureMendota Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through grade 4 and focuses on academics and high expectations. The school's mission is to promote lifelong learning, recognize individuality and provide challenging experiences for every student. Teachers link learning to real life, stressing practical applications as well as the joy of discovery.

Teachers' use of the Responsive Classroom® approach helps students thrive academically, socially and emotionally through instructional strategies such as morning meetings and guided discovery.

  • A focus on literacy and a goal to help each student read at their grade level by 3rd grade.

  • Kindergarten and 1st grade Poetry and Punch, 2nd grade Drama and Donuts and Poetry, Power Point and Popsicles, 3rd grade play and a 4th grade Musical extends learning for students.

In addition, Mendota offers a variety of Early Learning Programs for families with pre-kindergarten children. School District 197 is part of TriDistrict Community Education, which provides classes and activities for residents of all ages.
